One of the key early indications of heart failure is discomfort in the chest. When the pain in the chest is accompanied with pressure and tightness in the chest and won’t go away then you need to worry. It is advisable that you report it to your doctor as soon as possible to get help before things get worse.

Besides that, swelling of the feet can also be a sign that your heart is about to fail. With the swollen feet, legs and ankles, it means that the heart and the body lacks the force to pump the used blood back to the heart to be oxygenated. According to the American Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), failing to seek medical attention when you have swollen feet is tantamount to committing suicide.

Another thing that can indicate that your heart is in danger is shortness of breath when engaging in normal activities. When you cannot go up a flight of stairs then you should be worried. Shortness of breath is associated with serious cases of heart failure and one should not assume them.
