For the one week, there has been a spike in covid19 infections in the country. This comes in the same timeframe that the ministry of education directed for school re-opening. Most parents termed the move by the CS of Education as hasty and should have been done with care considering the fragility of the matter as far as learners safety is concerned. In Today's, a whooping positivity rate of 12% was reported as the country records 685 more new positive cases from 4,912 samples in the last 24 hrs.

The cabinet secretary of health Mutahi Kagwe today deliver some bad news to parents in today's COVID19 daily updates. When he was asked by a journalist about the government's effort to prioritize learners', the CS cited that the learners' is in the hands of parents and guardians. He blamed the parents for paving for their children to misbehave when it comes to observance of covid19 restrictions as they lead by example. When they lax to adhere to the restrictions, the children will follow the soot.

He also added by saying that parents should provide adequate masks to their children and teach them on proper ways to behave for safety purposes. He also urged parents whose children come from schools with inadequate supply of water, to ensure their children carry some water with them. The government through the ministry of health seems to burden parents with more responsibilities even after promising them that the safety of learners at schools will be given a top priority.

Do you think learners' behavior will highly depend on the way their parents handle them when they're at school?
