It is better to eat popsicles that are lower in sugar. Excessive sugar will make it more difficult to get rid of the virus.
If you do not have popsicles on hand, you can easily make your own by mixing yogurt with fruit and freezing the mixture. An added bonus is that this combination has antioxidants and probiotics that help heal the throat.
If you have a sore throat, make sure you drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated. A moist throat helps fight off the infection and bacteria. Water is the best fluid to drink when you have a sore throat, but there are others such as sugarless fruit juice, tea, and broth.
3. Hot Salty Water
It has been proven over and over again that by adding salt to hot water and gargling several times throughout the day will help loosen mucus in the throat. This will also minimize swelling in the throat.
Add one teaspoon of salt to one cup of hot water. This will loosen up the mucus and eliminate any bacteria in the throat.
Tea is a great remedy for a sore throat. Some teas are better than others for healing a sore throat. They include chamomile, licorice root tea, turmeric tea, and green tea. Simply boil some water and add a tea bag in a cup. Add a little honey and enjoy it.
The warmth of the tea will be soothing to the throat. The antioxidants in the tea provide healing because of their anti-inflammatory effects on the swelling.
5. Chicken Soup
Chicken soup is not only a good remedy for a cold, but it is also good for a sore throat. Sodium in the broth has anti-inflammatory properties that soothe the throat.
Chicken soup is easy to swallow even when a person has a painful throat. An added tip is if you put in some chili pepper, garlic or some pungent spices, they will help to get rid of the mucus quicker.
The thick, syrupy texture of a spoonful of honey is an ideal remedy for a sore throat because it serves as a cough suppressant. The properties of honey draw water out of inflamed tissues. Like some of the other remedies, honey reduces the swelling and soothes the throat.
Some people have found that if they sweeten their tea with honey, you will have two remedies in the cup.
7. Hot Milk
To benefit from those properties, brew a tea using a few cloves of garlic. Put the juice of half of a lemon and a teaspoon of honey.
Ginger has anti-inflammatory and bacteria-fighting properties that make it a good remedy for a sore throat. For added flavor, add a teaspoon of honey.

Some people find relief from their sore throat by drinking a glass of warm milk. Other people have reported that their sore throat worsens. Warm milk helps if your throat is dry. If your throat has a lot of phlegm and mucus, try another beverage. Milk will not cause more mucus, but it will thicken what is already there.
10. Over-the-Counter Medications

All the above remedies provide quick relief from a sore throat. However, using hydrogen peroxide is another way of clearing out sore throat very quickly because you receives immediate results that last a long time. That's why you should keep it on hand.
Some people even swear by gargling with it to soothe a sore throat, whiten teeth, and reduce gum inflammation. Gargle with it, but make sure you do not swallow it.
Use the 3 percent concentration hydrogen peroxide that comes in the brown bottle. Combine one part hydrogen peroxide with two parts water.Take a small mouthful of the solution. Gargle and swish the mixture around in your mouth for about 60 seconds. Do not gargle longer.After gargling, spit the solution out without swallowing.
The solution has antibacterial properties that loosen the mucus in the throat that will eliminate pain.
