Countrywide Lockdown Looms As Positivity Rate Hits 13.7 percent (Opinion).

President Uhuru Kenyatta is supposed to address the nation at the end of this month. This is after he extended curfew hours in Western region.Therefore, President Uhuru is supposed to give further directions on the same.

Even as Western region looks forward to hear from President; expecting the lifting of curfew hours or revise curfew hours, the Covid-19 situation in the country is worsening.

This is after the Ministry of health for consistently recording an increase in positivity rate. Today, 801 patients tested positive from a sample size of 5850 tested in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate is now at 13.7 percent. This is an increase compared with yesterday's positivity rate.

In addition, the number of covid-19 cases in counties are very high. For instance, Nairobi is leading with 319 cases. Over 30 counties have recorded cases of covid-19. This implies that all counties are affected.

15 more patients have succumbed for the disease. This brings the total fatalities to 3826. This is high number and therefore, to prevent further loss of lives, the country might decide to lock the country.

Opinion. Therefore, to avoid unnecessary damage to the country, there is high chance of lockdown. This might help to prevent further spread of Covid-19 pandemic.
