Good afternoon and welcome to my daily sports updates.Tap on the follow link on the top right corner if you haven't done so to receive more news updates. Welcome.
Yesterday kenyan marathon runner Elisha Rotich won the race breaking a record set by Ethiopian legend Kenenisa Bekele in Paris France. The Kenyan 29years old was the talk in town yesterday after achieving a historic feet in the race. However, what got my eye was the amount of money raised during the race. The race was aimed at raising amount of money to help cure cancer among hospitals in the world.
According to reports and various posts, the amount raised was in excess of €662000 which amounts to millions of shillings when converted to Kenyan money. His win added more ice on the cake as Kenya could be considered as a front runner as far as cancer remedies are concerned. Apart from celebrating his win, Rotich makes history as one of the sportsmen who have helped the world to fight against cancer pandemic.
The whole world is now happy and thankful for the efforts put in by our athletes. Others also finished in the top ten category. Congratulations to every person who made the marathon a success.
