Poverty is the state of not having enough material possessions or income for a person's basic needs. Poverty may include social, economic, and political elements. Absolute poverty is the complete lack of the means necessary to meet basic personal needs, such as food, clothing, and shelter.Most people from different parts of the country are experiencing poverty especially during this pandemic, they lack either two or all of the basic needs.
Kenyan economic development is hindered by poverty being experienced in different parts of the country due to Corona virus. The country was developing rapidly before the Corona virus outbreak which slowed our economic growth.According to Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) most residents from the following counties; Turkana, Kakamega and Mandera are living below the poverty line.
The above names counties have the highest number of people living in poverty. About 79% of the Turkana population are living in poverty as most of the people living around are unable to find access to proper nutrition, health, education, child protection, information, water, sanitation and proper housing.
The second in the list was Kakamega county lead by Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, about 35% of Kakamega population are living under poverty line while Mandera's 77% of the population are living a poor lifelife. The other counties with the highest level of poverty are Kilifi, Kitui, Busia, Kisii, Bomet and Nakuru.
