Why Health Volunteers in Busia Are Happy

Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong today signed the Busia County Community Health Services Bill, 2021 into law.

The Act will go towards improvement of service delivery in the county.

" I thank the County Government and donors including AMPATH, Living Goods for facilitating the finalization of the bill.

I therefore encourage Members of the County Assembly to continue enacting relevant laws that will be beneficial to county residents, " he Said.

The Busia County Community Health Services Bill, 2021 is good news to over 2,000 Community Health Volunteers who can now be facilitated to provide basic healthcare services to county residents.

The CHVs Act will provide services such as health education, health promotion, disease prevention, mental-health services, home care, long-term care, rehabilitation services, palliative-care services and treatment for illnesses and injury in relation to primary care.

It will also pave way for creation of 197 Community Health Units across the county to accommodate 2,111 CHVs who will now be recognized in law.
