Due to the recent surge in everyday illnesses, the government has asked Kenyans to get vaccinated and wear masks when in matatus, supermarkets and political gatherings.

"With the current season's dip in temperatures, the steady growth in new illnesses is expected to get worse," Kagwe said in a statement.

All persons with respiratory-like diseases should seek medical attention and be tested for Covid-19; according to Mutahi Kagwe.

He went on to say that the immunization rate had sadly decreased. The CS stated that this was an issue of worry because the majority of patients who are now hospitalized have never been vaccinated.

Kenyans will be required to wear masks in confined spaces such as PSVs, airlines, workplaces, supermarkets and places of worship; according to Mutahi Kagwe.

Kagwe also added that political meetings held indoors are super-spreaders. Therefore to limit the illness, they were also compelling the worshipers to wear face masks when inside places of worship.

At the same time, Mutahi Kagwe urged individuals who have not yet received the vaccine to do so immediately, stating that all Kenyans should take the required measures.

Mutahi Kagwe stated that those who have not yet been immunized should do so as soon as possible while those who have already been vaccinated but require a booster dose should do it as soon as possible.
