The positivity rate of Corona Virus has been on a rise in Kisumu and Kisii Counties. This is worrying as the number of people reported to be Covid positive in this two counties keeps on rising each day.
Kisumu county has become a hot spot for Covid-19 as health facilities are stretched in the county. This can be seen when the Governor for Kisumu, Professor Anyang Nyong' called upon the ministry of health together with other counties to support them.
Kisii county being a neighbouring county to Kisumu, it has also continued to record higher postive cases. This comes even after Kisumu being the first county to record the new Indian, Covid variant which is ravaging lives in the county. It would be better if the two counties will be put under lockdown to contain the further spread of the new Indian Covid variant.
Reporting during the nation address on Covid-19, the Cabinet secretary for health, Mutahi Kagwe attributed the rise in the Covid positive cases in the two to disobedience of Covid-19 protocols by residents. Residents in the counties have been seen overcrowding abd breaking curfew rules put in place to curb the spread of Covid-19.
