Kenyans have now been warned against a deadly flu spreading around in the country. According to KEMRI there is an outbreak of influenza A(H3N2) subtype flu in the country. However they have termed as just normal flu that can be treated in a normal way.
KEMRI says that the viral infection that can be deadly especially to high risk groups attacks the lungs, nose and throat. It's symptoms include high fever, headache, muscle aches, cough, sore throat and tiredness.
However, both influenza A&B are highly contagious. KEMRI noted that when a person with the flu coughs or sneezes, droplets can enter another person's body through the nose or mouth thus transmitting the illness.
According to the centers for Disease Control and Prevention, flu viruses can infect others from up to 6 feet away. Therefore Kenyans are urged to wear their mask at all times when in public or outdoors. They have also been asked to wash their hands with soap and running water while maintaining social distance from other people.
