Facts About The Coronavirus Vaccine You Need To Know Before Being Vaccinated

The Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine also known as AZD1222 had been ordered by the Kenyan goverment from AstraZeneca to supply about 200 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine. AstraZeneca is made from a weakened version of common cold virus chimpanzees which has been modified to look more like corona virus although this virus cannot cause illness.

The goverment through health CS Mutai Kagwe had announced that the health workers, police officers and teachers will be given the first priority for the vaccination. The ministry of health had however urged the Kenyan citizens not to use the vaccine as an excuse to avoid observing the Covid-19 safety protocols which had been put in place to curb the spread of the virus since the rate of infections seems to be on rise in the last few days.

Many people have been looking forward to the arrival of the vaccine not knowing much about it. Kenyans should know that Kenya is not the first country to use the AstraZeneca vaccine rather it has been used in several countries like United Kingdom, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
