Are You A Member Of Blood Group O? See What It Means

There are four main blood groups namely, A, B, AB, and O. Blood group A contains A antigens on the red blood cells with anti-B antibodies in the plasma. Blood group B contains B antigens with anti-A antibodies in the plasma. Blood group AB does not have antibodies but contains both antigens A and B. Lastly, Blood group O has both anti-A and anti-B antibodies in the plasma but lacks antigens.

These 4 groups are further subdivided into two groups meaning that there are 8 blood groups in total. Your blood group is always determined by the type of genes you inherit from your parents. This means that each blood group can either be RhD positive or RhD negative.

The Rh System

Blood contains antigens in the Red Blood cells, this is a type of protein known as RhD antigen. If it's present in your body then your blood group is RhD positive and if it's absent then your blood group is RhD negative as shown below.

AB RhD positive (AB+)

AB RhD negative ( AB-)

O RhD positive (O+)

O RhD negative( O-)

B RhD positive (B+)

B RhD negative(B-)

A RhD positive (A+)

A RhD negative( A-)

People with blood group O always have an added advantage over the other groups. People with blood group O negative can give blood to all other blood groups and is mostly used during emergencies. This is because it does not have any B, A, or RhD antigen and this makes it compatible with other groups.

The negative side of having blood group OO is that you can only receive blood from the same group type and they produce a lot of acids that are harmful to the body. In addition, to that, they are probably going to have more Healthy conditions such as having ulcers, thyroid brokenness, low levels of thyroid synthetics.
