Prof Olive Mugenda Spends Her Day at a Construction Site After Taking a Break From JSC Interviews

On Tuesday, Professor Olive Mugenda announced that the Judicial Service Commission was taking a break from the ongoing recruitment of the Judge of the Supreme Court.

According to her, the interviews will be resumed next week from Monday 3rd of May 2021 giving the Commissioners a break from the rigourous exercise.

It is during this break that the former Vice Chancellor of the Kenyatta university got a chance to visit the ongoing construct of the Integrated Molecular Imaging Centre (IMIC) at the Kenyatta Teaching and Referral Hospital.

Had the opportunity to inspect the construction of the Integrated Molecular Imaging Centre (IMIC) which is at an advanced stage. The two PETScan machines are already in the country awaiting installation. We are on course.

This newly built centre would be the first publicly owned cancer centre in the country as well as the East and Central African region. The centre was planned to be equipped with a coaxial tomology scan (CT-Scan) that was used to produce high-resolution images for advanced clinical assessment of medical conditions. The project promoted Belt&Road Initiative cooperation between China and Kenya.

In 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed Prof Olive Mugenda to chair the Kenyatta University Hospital board for three years.

The hospital, which is a parastatal under the Ministry of Health, will play a key role in research by lecturers and students at Kenyatta University.
