Kituku confirmed that the Matuu level four hospital trauma life support ambulance was referring a patient to the hospital last week when it was hit by a lorry from behind.
Due to that, the rear window got destroyed thus the need for the piece of cloth.
He noted that the cloth was put to prevent dust and strong wind.
He said that the issue was reported to the police immediately.
He urges residents to trash different opinions by people politicking on social media.
The health boas noted that the ambulance is currently being repaired and will be back on road soon.
"This is Machakos county Matuu level 4 hospital advanced trauma life support ambulance that was hit by a lorry from behind last week along Thika superhighway while referring a patient to the hospital. The incident was reported to the police as per the procedure. The insurer also alerted immediately," he wrote on his Facebook page.
"The ambulance was then moved to Machakos county garage. Repairs are almost complete. Ambulances just like other vehicles can be involved in accidents, that's why they are also insured," he added.
