"Baba Said Curfew Will Be Lifted and It Has Been Lifted" Popular Blogger Says

The dusk to dawn countrywide curfew that has been effective in Kenya since March 27, 2020 has been lifted by the President of the Republic of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta while at the 2021 Mushujaa Day celebrations in Kirinyaga County. The President had earlier on hinted on the possibility of lifting the curfew. However, he encouraged to continue observing the Ministry of Health Covid 19 protocols and get vaccinated against the vulnerability to contract the disease.

The curfew has been lifted after the country through the Ministry of Health continues to record the lowest positivity rates than the 5% percent recommended by the World Health Organization WHO. Kenyans have hailed the President for listening their request. The order issued by the President is with an immediate effect.

On the ODM side, the party's digital strategist Robert Alai has linked Raila Odinga with the lifting of the curfew. He claims that Raila had earlier commented on the need to reopen the country for the sake of our economy. Alai wrote, "Kenyans have sent fare worth Ksh5B through M-Pesa since the lifting of the curfew. Baba said curfew will be lifted and it has been lifted."
