How to Make a Yummy Kaimati ( Fried Sweet-Dumplings)

Kaimati is a Swahili Breakfast dish name meaning sweet dumplings. It originates from Coastal kenya. It's yummy and tasty, super easy to make, and it's just an amazing breakfast dish to die for.

1 cup wheat flour

1 tsp salt

1 tsp of sugar

1tsp of yeast

1 tbsp Greek yogurt

1 tbsp ghee

3/4 cup of liquid

oil for frying

1 cup sugar

3/4 cup of liquid

1/2 tbsp of cardamon

1, Combine all of the dry ingredients (flour, salt, sugar, yeast), then stir in the yogurt and ghee until thoroughly combined.

2, Finally, add water and mix until thick paste forms, then cover the batter for 20-30 minutes to allow it to rise.

3, Once the batter has risen, heat a skillet over medium-low heat to prevent the kaimati from darkening and using the tips of your fingers or a machine, create several very small circles and deep fry them till golden brown.

4, When everything is ready, set it aside and create some syrup.

How to make the syrup

1, Bring all of the syrup's ingredients (sugar, water, and cardamon) to a boil until it starts to stick.

2, When the syrup is done, dip the kaimati in it and coat them in it, then set them aside to dry. Your kaimati are now ready to eat. Serve with tea, milk or coffee.

Note: Before coating the kaimati with the syrup, make sure the syrup has cooled and the kaimati are hot, else the process will go backward.
