Use this procedure to prepare amazing and tasty 'omena' without any bitterness


-500g dry omena

- 1 large onion (chopped)

-3 large tomatoes ready

-Fresh coriander leaves (finely chopped)

-Green pepper (cubed)

-2 Royco cubed

-Salt to taste

-2 ground garlic

Method of preparing Omena

-Carefully sieve omena to remove any bad or unwanted omena.

-Pour warm water over the omena until covered. Let it soak for 3 minutes.

-Wash the omena by squeezing it between your hands. Continue the cycle until the water is clear.

-Drain the extra water from the omena and keep it in a safe place

-Pour two tablespoons of cooking oil into a pot or pan and place on medium heat.

-Mix each time until the omena turns a bright brown color. Remove from heat.

-Sprinkle another pan with a tablespoon of oil over medium heat and pour over chopped onions. Allow the onions to turn a nice sand color and then add the onions. Mix well.

-Add pepper and continue mixing for two minutes.

-Add the tomatoes and mix well.

-Add the omena and mix well. Add a little salt, royco cube and blends.

-Now you could add crushed coriander leaves. Mix for 1 hour and remove from the heat.

Serve it with 'Ugali'.
