Simple Recipe for Homemade Naan Bread

Naan bread is an Indian cuisine which is very delicious and is something that you should try out for a snack at home even though it can also be served with other dishes.

Ingredients

Half cup of warm water

Two teaspoonsful of instant yeast

One tablespoon of sugar

Three tablespoonful of olive oil

Quarter cup of plain yogurt

One egg

Half tablespoonful of salt

Two and half cups of wheat flour

Two tablespoonful of melted butter

Two tablespoonful of minced garlic(optional)


Preparation

Mix the warm water, yeast and sugar in a large bowl leave it for five minutes and then add olive oil, egg, yogurt, salt and two cups of flour. Stir till the mixture is smooth.

Add the remaining flour bit by bit to make the dough smooth then knead it on a floured counter until smooth.

Place the dough in a greased bowel and let it rest in a warm place until it seems to be doubling.

Preheat a skillet in to medium heat.

Cut the dough into eight pieces and roll each into a circle shape

Add a little oil or non sticky spray to the skillet and cook each side of the rolled pieces for 2-3 minutes until it is golden brown

Brush the bubbly side of each naan with the melted butter you can add the minced garlic to the butter you are using but it is optional.

Naan can be served with anything but is best if served with Indian and Asian dishes like coconut curry, homemade hummus or Greek pasta salad.
