Steps to prepare homemade soft layered chapati

Mix flour,sugar and salt in a bowl. Add margarine and mix with your hands.You can add sugar if you like it ,but you can omit if you don't. Pour water hit by bit as you knead for about 5 minutes. Add flour bit by bit if the dough is sticky as you knead.

Continue kneading on your work surface for another 3 minutes. ( Soft-layered chapatis should be kneaded thoroughly).

The dough should be soft but not sticky. Cover the dough with a cling film or a plastic polythene bag for about 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, knead again and cut into balls.

Roll out the balls into a circular shape with a rolling pin one at a time as you brush oil on it. Cover them to keep them soft then roll the balls again to form a circle. In a medium heat ,place a pan and let it warm up then put your chapati on top. Cook both sides until brown. Once cooked, remove and place it in a container and cover. Serve it with your favourite stew.
