We have different types of stews but Ndengu Stew is among the best. So today we prepare it.
The ingredients;
- 300 gm polished green grams
- 2 large tomatoes
- 1 large onion
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Spice of your choice
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil
The procedure to follow;
- Wash and boil the green grams until soft. Around 45mins. Drain the water but do not discard. Keep aside for the stew.
- In a separate saucepan, put the oil, and chopped onion and fry on low heat.
- Chop the tomatoes and add them to the onions. Add the salt, stir and cover to cook on low heat for 2 minutes until the tomatoes soften.
- Add the green grams, stir and cover. Stir after 5mins then cover and cook for another 5mins.
- In a small bowl mix your spice with 1 cup of the previously strained water. Add to the green grams and stir. Cover and cook for 5minutes. Then serve with your favourite accompaniment.
- Try out this recipe at home and serve with your favorite food like chapati or rice
