Omena is believed to be eaten by people around the lake. Its very sweet and delicious when prepared well. The sweetness of omena depends on the way one has prepared it,some might just boil it and put oil believe me one who will eat it will never admire to eat it ever a gain.Here is a simple step by step method of preparing it .
30 mins 2 cooksnaps
200 g fresh dry omena
3 large tomatoes, chopped
1 onion, chopped
Vegetable cooking oil
1 tbs salt
1.Wash the omena with warm water, then put aside. put enough oil to fry in a Cooking pan and heat until you see bubbles then add the omena and stir.
2.Let them fry until they are crunchy but not burnt. Then add the onions and stir again to mix and let it fry for 2 minutes then add tomatoes.
3.Stir to mix and let it cook while covering until the tomatoes have soften then you can add salt and let it cook again for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and serve with Ugali,add greens like Kales or spinach and enjoy your meal.
