The favorite food is called ugali loved by the luhya community .Ugali is produced from maize which is the main food crop grown in the region .The community is the second largest ethic group in Kenya made up of 19 distinct sub tribe that are commonly united. They are found in Western part of Kenya and other parts of the countries due to intermarriage a,business,working among others.The luhya people speak different luhya language although they share some words.According to the Kenya population census 2019.The luhya community has a population of 6,823,842 people with approximately 14.35% of Kenya's total population of 47.6 million.
The interesting thing about these people is their staple food is ugali.The main food crop in the luhya community is mainly maize used for domestic uses.Ugali being their staple food has made the luhya famous in the country.People from western Kenya has been known through their influential leaders such as Musalia Mudavadi who is the Luhya Kingpin.
