Get to Know how to Cook Delicious Mandazi

This is the simplest, great testing Mandazi I have ever made. Great to make with kids especially soft mandazi.


375g all purpose baking flour

1/2 cup sugar

1 tablespoon baking powder

2 tablespoon ground cardamom

1/2 tablespoon pinch salt

2 eggs

Cooking oil

1 cup milk


In a bowl whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cardamom and salt. Make a well in the center, then use a spoon to mix the egg and the milk until the dough comes together.

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and kneads until smooth. Dive the dough into a 4 portion, roll out 1 portion of dough in a circle 6 ml thick, cut into 8 triangles and repeat with the remaining dough portions.

Heat the oil in large pan until it reaches 180 decree Celsius.

Working in batches, fry the mandazi for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown. Drain on the paper towels. Serve as breakfast with Kenyan coffee or Chai.
