It has been a devastating blow to Kenyans as the costs of essential staple items, such as sugar, cooking oil, and bread, have skyrocketed.
Nairobi residents would have to dig deeper into their pockets to buy 1 liter of cooking oil, 400 grams of bread and 1 kilogram of sugar, according to an article in the Daily Nation published on Sunday.
The following are the current market pricing for these three essential foods: You can now buy a liter of cooking oil for Ksh 336, a kilogram of sugar for Ksh 138, and a pound of bread for Ksh 60.
It has been suggested that rising food costs in the country are directly related to Russia's on-going assault against Ukraine's sovereign nation.
