How to prepare Pumpkin Mandazi
Mandazi is a common tea time snack eaten in many households. They can be prepared in different ways. Mandazi flavours vary from one individual to the other. Today, you will learn how to make Mandazi using pumpkin as an ingredient. They are not only healthy but also delicious.
First, this is what you need to have when preparing pumpkin mandazi;
All purpose flour or baking flour
A piece of pumpkin
Method of preparation;
In a cooking pot, boil your pumpkin until soft. You can pick peel the pumpkin before boiling or after boiling.
Cut your boiled pumpkin into pieces. Blend it or mash until you achieve a common consistency.
In a bowl, add pumpkins, sugar and salt and mix them well.
Add wheat flour in portions followed by baking powder.
Knead until the dough becomes smooth.
Cover it for 30-60 minutes to allow it to rise.
Frying your pumpkin Mandazi:
Divide you dough into balls and roll each ball, the cut into pieces or desired shapes.
Pour some oil in a frying pan and allow it to heat. You can test the heat using a small piece of the dough.
Once hot, put each piece in the hot oil and cook for 30seconds or until golden brown.
Remove and drain the excess oil. Do that until all the pieces are done.
Enjoy with a cup of lemon tea.
Tip : you can blend all the ingredients, except flour.
