Fatima Mohammed, a Kenyan woman, represents the actual concept of rags to riches, as she now runs a multi-billion dollar corporation in the United States of America after a failed stay in Saudi Arabia. Fatima's business empire includes a restaurant in the center of a megacity whose name has become synonymous with preparing delicious African meals, with Kenyans lining up every day to get a taste of their favorite dish consisting of Ugali and Sukuma wiki.
Fatima left the country when she was young for the Gulf, where she worked in a beauty salon before starting to make garments for the royal family, a position that did not last long because she was compelled to migrate to the United States. She met her childhood friend, Omar Issa, in America and the two exchanged vows, but her determination led her to reject the idea of becoming a housewife and get a job as a Refugee and Immigration Assistant at a Lutheran center, where she also founded the East African Community Outreach.
Fatima is among the rising number of Kenyans who are daring to go abroad, as she is now living her dream of serving African meals in a foreign land, where she has made a name for herself by serving a mix of Kenyan and Somali food, as well as influences from Indian delicacies, with her Cafe, bringing genuine homeland flavor with some of their signature dishes such as Somali chicken, sandwiches, and burgers.
