Watermelons usually come in various sizes and water contents. Regardless, there are several ways you can use to know if a watermelon is sweet.
Here are the four things you need to look out for when buying your watermelon:
1. Intact stalks
It is very difficult to find a watermelon still that has it's stalk intact. However, if you find one with it, there are high chances that it will turn out to be a sumptuous one!
2. Appearance of scar
The appearance of the spot where the stalk was tells a lot about the taste of the watermelon. If the scar is sealed, that fruit is likely to be a sweet one.
3. Size of dark lines
The thickness of the dark lines that run along the sides of the watermelons usually differ from one fruit to the other. If the dark lines are thicker, well and good for you.
4. White spots
The presence of white spots on the surface of the watermelon is a signal that that fruit is not a tasty one. Keep off. Probably, it might even have an infection.
Which of these clues have you found useful? Do you have any other means of knowing if a watermelon is sweet? Please, share your thoughts in the comments section below...
