Mixed Reactions After A School Demanded Each Student To Bring 5 Litres Of Cooking Oil For Practical

Online Kenyan parents have expressed mixed reactions after seeing this photo of a note given to a student from a school to give their parents, requesting them to give the student the following items to bring to the school so that it can be used during CBC lessons.

This photo made parents say that the new curriculum is expensive since it's exploiting parents. The CBC curriculum is set to release the 8-4-4 system. CBC is more practical while the 8-4-4 system is more theory. A task force has been set up to decide whether the CBC curriculum should be implemented fully or scrapped off.

In the photo, given to a grade 5 student, the parent of the student was humbly requested to give their kids the following items so that they could use them during the cooking practical that was scheduled to happen next Wednesday.

The parents were supposed to buy 5 litres of cooking oil that would be used during the practical. 5 litres of the oil is currently retailing at Ksh 2,000 and this will be a burden to a parent since the current economy is tough.

Netizens reacted by saying that the 5 liters of cooking oil would be too much for the practical if all the students were to bring the oil.
