Francis Atwoli is one of the famous and prominent people in Kenya. He is the currently the COTU secretary and has served the position for the longest time.
He is known for empowering women in his life and his adopted daughter Vanessa Nekesa is no exception.
Vanessa was adopted by COTU secretary Francis Atwoli and his wife Rosalinda after her mother died while she was still young.
Her hard work and passion for fashion saw her win the 2017 blaze be your own boss competition which saw her walk away with ksh 3 million making her one of the youngest millionaires.
Vanessa's victory was a result of her fashion house dubbed V Designs, also known as Nekesa Queens Ltd which she founded immediately after completing her high school education at just 17.
She revealed to Standard media in an interview that whilst she was interested in fashion and even had a sketch book for her designs, her career only took off after high school in 2014.
She said "Just after i sat my KCSE exams in 2014 and was thinking about getting serious with fashion, one of my friends asked for an outfit to wear at an event. I only had ksh 1000 with me at the time, which i used to buy fabric at a cost of ksh 450 and the tailor charged ksh 500 to make an outfit which made the client very happy at the time."Photo courtesy
