The ring has a significant meaning. In every culture or tradition, rings are not just worn without a purpose. For example, the ring is usually worn by married couples as a sign of their marriage covenant. Therefore, we can rightly say that the ring is a symbol of a covenant that has been enacted between the parties involved.
However, this is quite different today. Rings are simply worn for purposes of beauty or decoration. Whereas the wearing of rings has become common, there are other patterns that are distinct. For example, have you ever met someone who wears a ring on the thumb finger and wondered what it represents?
All the fingers have their meaning when it comes to wearing of rings. For example, people will wear a friendship ring, engagement ring and eventually the wedding ring. So what does it mean when you see someone wearing a ring on their thumb finger?
1. It is a symbol of authority or power
A ring on the left thumb signifies both spiritual authority and physical authority. Some people who wear these rings on the thumb finger either belong to one occult group or any spiritual entity that exercises authority and power.
2. It is used for protection from spiritual attacks
Those who wear these rings believe that the rings shield them from any negative forces, physical and spiritual attacks.
3. It is fashionable
If you observe closely, you will discover that most people who wear the ring on their thumb regard it as a fashionable style. They want to look fancy and so they incorporate the rings in their dressing. A good number of celebrities do this so as to look cool. Due to peer pressure, many other people follow the same trend not knowing what it means.
4. Sign of wealth/ influence in men
In most societies a thumb ring on a man is a sign of wealth or influence. These rings tend to be broad or bulky to reflect that.
5. Bisexual or lesbian
A girl or woman is considered to be bisexual or lesbian if she wears a thumb ring on her right thumb.
6. Thumb rings also signify freedom.
Many people believe that having a ring on the thumb means strength, independence, and individuality. If you wear a bigger thumb ring, it means that you are a more independent and free person. For example, in this modern time, women wear thumb rings to express their freedom and independence.
It is also important to note that this ring can also be worn in the middle index finger. So any time you don't see it on the thumb but on the middle finger, know that both of them mean the same thing.
What do you think about this? Could there be any other reason why the rings are worn on the thumb? Feel free to share your opinions in the comments section.
