Breast cancer causes several changes to the skin on and around the breast. Here are some signs that would help spot early the breast cancer.
1) Changes to Skin Texture
Breast cancer causes changes and inflammation in skin cells that can lead to texture change which includes scaly skin around the nipple and areola, as though the skin is sunburned and skin thickening in any part of the skin.
Skin dimpling can be a sign of inflammatory breast cancer, an aggressive type of breast cancer cells can cause a build up of lymph fluid in the breast that leads to swelling as well as dimpling.
3) Nipple Discharge
Breast cancer can cause discharge from the nipple which can be thin or thick and can range in color from clear to milky to yellow, green or red.
4) Nipple Retraction
Breast cancer can cause cell change in the nipple which results in the nipple inverting and reversing inward into the breast.
Breast cancer can cause change to the skin that may appear discoloured which may be red, purple or bluish tint.
6) Breast Pain
Breast cancer causes changes in skin cells that lead to feeling of pain, tenderness and discomfort in the breast.
Breast cancer can cause the entire breast to swell. There it may not be a distinct lump after this swelling, but the breast may be different in size than the other breast.
