Side Effects of Showering Every Day

Nobody ever gives it a thought that jumping in the shower to get a nice cold or warm wash can have some effects. But the truth is that it truly does, the soaps and fragrant body washes can come with some impacts that you have never thought about if used daily. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the skin holds and keeps a layer of bacteria, essential oils and other organisms. What happens in the shower when you are bathing takes away all these things, especially when you are using hot water and can leave your skin dry, itchy and cracked exposing you to skin infections.

The American Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) observes that the immunity needs to be triggered by some microorganisms that are usually found on the skin. The microorganisms stimulate the body produce antibodies, and bathing everyday can greatly interfere with the immune system. Constant use of antibacterial soaps alter life of the normal bacteria found on the skin. When the friendly microorganisms are interfered with, it can lead to emergence of stronger and bad organisms that can be harmful to your health.

Besides that, taking showers for longer times can cause dry hair and skin. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, the shorter the shower or bath the better it is for your skin. When you stay in the shower or under water for 7 minutes you begin to damage your skin. The danger can be greater if the water is hot as hot water destroys the skin faster. It is recommended that you keep the water lukewarm or cold but not hot.
