Besides that, taking showers for longer times can cause dry hair and skin. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, the shorter the shower or bath the better it is for your skin. When you stay in the shower or under water for 7 minutes you begin to damage your skin. The danger can be greater if the water is hot as hot water destroys the skin faster. It is recommended that you keep the water lukewarm or cold but not hot.
