Tsavo East National Park is among the most beautiful and popular national parks not only in kenya but the entire east Africa. The park is a part of the bigger Tsavo national park which is the largest national park in Kenyan covering over 13,700 square kilometers.
The park was established way back in 1948 to conserve and protect the wildlife in what was then called Taru desert.
The park was named after the great tsavo River that is a key water source to the park. The river flows from the east to the west of the park. The park is managed by the kenya wildlife service which is the government arm that is responsible for wildlife in kenya.
The park can be accessed through four gates, that is; Manyani, voi, Sala and Buchuma. Driving yourself there is something that i can't recommend you to do, but i can advise you to use a private safari tour that is affordable which is inclusive of transport, accommodation and food.
To see many animals in the park you need a good tour guide, in the seasons when the grass is high its hard to see the animals, except for the elephants and giraffes. But when the grass is low its easier to spot the animala but it tends to be more costly.
The park is a home to large mammals, red elephants, rhinos, lions, Buffalos, leopards and many more animals.
