Smoke can be seen miles away showing top Crater rims of Mt Longononot bush burning. These burning bushes might extend to large area of the famous Great Rift Valley located mountain.
Mount Longonot is protected by Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) which manages and protects Mount Longonot National Park. Immediate action need to be taken by KWS to contain the spreading fire menace on top of the parasitic coned mountain which is a tourist destination site.
This is not the first fire disaster on Mt Longonot. In March , 2009 bush fires burned up the side of the mountain and descended into the crater, trapping wildlife and destroying a large area of wildlife feeding brush.
Some areas of the Great Valley including the sorrouding regions of Naivasha town are experiencing drought conditions with hot and dry months.
