Following the most recent investment in fish research in the area President William Ruto is continuing to hold out a carrot to Raila Odinga home territory.
Salim Mvurya the cabinet secretary for mining and the blue economy claims that the government has given the Kabonyo Kanyagwal fisheries and aquaculture research center in Kisumu a Ksh2.5 billion grant.
The money will be distributed in two phases, totaling Ksh1 billion and Ksh1.5 billion each the CS announced on Monday, November 28.
Mvurya revealed that the cabinet has already given initial approval for the research center's first phase which is anticipated to generate 7 million fingerlings yearly.
The government intends to improve nationwide food and nutritional security with the predicted annual output levels.
President William Ruto will lay the cornerstone for the fish center in February of next year according to the CS.
Mvurya was giving a speech in Kisumu during the week-long blue economy conference which drew participants from all over the world.
