Today, the First Lady Mama Rachael Ruto attended a tree planting program in Kakamega County. She was accompanied by Environment and Forestry Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya. They were received by several leaders from Western and Nyanza region.
The tree planting exercise is set to increase the forests cover in the region in response to the impact of Climate change. President Ruto promised to provide job opportunities to the youth through the tree planting initiative from previously Kazi Mtaani.
CS Soipan Tuya is among the leaders who recently attended the COP27 meeting held in Egypt which saw several leaders including Heads of States from Africa and United Nations Present. The agenda of the meeting was to strategies on ways of countering the impact of Climate change in Africa and ways of supporting countries affected.
The first lady is set to launch the tree planting exercise targeting millions of trees to be planted.
