Theatrics was witnessed from a little known Tala estate, Matungu constituency, Machakos county in the former Eastern province when two years old baby identified as Alex Ndunda Masau was rescued by villagers from a hippo two hours after swallowing.
According to Nancy Nyamusi, a local or rather resident the baby's mother who was busy washing clothes at the bank of the river became curious of whereabouts of the kid and started looking for him before noticing a piece of clothes floating on water and the hippo approaching her.
Villagers who gathered at the scene all sorts of weapons pierced the animal with arrows tearing it to pieces only to find the baby safe and breathing inside it's stomach.
Conferming the incident, the area police boss disclosed that the kid is admitted at Machakos level five hospital and is in stable condition.
