The people of Laikipia can now smile after the Government came up with the most creative technique to use so as to prevent regular attacks. As this happens, the Government has resolved to building a major tunnel which will prevent the bandits from reaching their main point of causing attacks. The tunnel will also act as a barrier to prevent the animals from crossing when in search of water and pasture.
Animals from the concervancy are the most protected since they have always emerged as major targets by the bandits. According to the source, the tunnel will run from Wangwachi to Kamwenje area. The operation will be done by a group of 12 hired engineers from the Multi-agency squad.
The tunnel will also prevent the wars resulting from herders animals entering farmers lands destroying property. This comes after the violent protests that recently happened in Rumuruti that left many healing serious sounds in hospital. Leaders of the area met with the residents and urged them, especially the herders community and asked them to avoid destroying farm products causing such related chaos.
