Josephat Kahiga was on his way home when he almost met his death after an attack from an unwieldy hippo at Manguu village, Nyahururu in Laikipia County.
The man who is a meat inspector in the area, screamed and requested for help from the neighborhood who responded quickly and came for his rescue. According to Joyce Karima one of the neighbors who arrived at the scene, the old could have lost his life were it not the alarm.
The old man was rushed to Nyahururu County Referral Hospital where he is receiving treatment.
Residents reported of the challenge of Hippo attacks that move from the nearby Ewaso Nyiro river to look for pasture in the area.
They unanimously requested the government to address the issue of Wildlife havoc in the area that has ready to massive destruction of farms in the area and making them live in fear of being attacked.
