World Cleanup Day celebrated on 18th September is an annual global social action program aimed at combating the global solid waste problem.
This year the directorate of Environment & Solid waste management marked this day at Thika Sub-county by cleaning up the Thika Children’s rescue center and surroundings and planting many samples around the area. Various companies and educational institutions from Kiambu county participated in this clean-up drive.
Superfoam Ltd, a mattress manufacturing company based in Ruiru, was at the frontline at the event. The staff members came prepared and actively engaged in the cleaning and tree planting exercise.
Superfoam Ltd, Head of Marketing, Sanskrati Shetty, said,. “We are more than grateful to the Kiambu County Government for inviting us to be part of this exercise. We as a brand, pride ourselves in safeguarding our surrounding environment by taking the necessary conservation measures. We encourage the county Government to spearhead such cleaning and conservation activities within the county and extend our support to all their initiatives”
Director Environment and Solid Waste Management, Patrick Theuri ,who was the chief guest noted that domestic waste generators are committing illegality by not engaging private garbage collectors to manage their waste.
Also present at the event was Monica Kingori Assistant Director Environment & Solid waste management as well as County Forester Simon Chege.
Superfoam Limited continues to show endless support to projects in the surrounding community. They recently made a massive donation to Mukuyu Primary School during the school’s Prize Giving Day Celebrations.
