Meet The Only National Park In Kenya With Large Numbers Of Elephants(Photos)

Amboseli is one of Kenya's most popular parks that offers great wildlife viewing. It is famous for it's elephants, but most big safari animals like black rhino can also be spotted in the park. The park has about 2000 elephants.

It located in Kajiado South Constituency in Kajiado County, Kenya. The park is 39,206 hectares in size. The local people are mainly Maasai, but people from other parts of the country have settled there attracted by the successful tourist-driven economy and favourable climate that is suitable for intensive agriculture.

Having been protected from poaching for a long time, the Amboseli elephants carry particularly impressive ivory. During the day the elephants mostly spend their time partially submerged, foraging in the swamps and also roam the dusty plains in the morning and evening.

The best time for visiting the park is during the dry seasons when the animals are confined to predictable water points.
