Ministry of Health has said the Cabinet Secretary for Health Susan Nakhumicha has underscored the critical role of trees in human health amid incresing treats posed by climate change.
The ministry said Susan was speaking at Baraton primary school in Transzoia county during a tree planting exercise which was part of the 2022 national and county level short rains tree planting campaign, the CS said besides providing food and oxygen,trees store carbon,stabilise soul and give life to the world's wildlife.
They said the CS said the government has prioritised expanding,managing and conserving forests sustainably with the country envisioning to attain a 30 percent forest cover nationally but 2031.She said the national tree growing restoration campaign led by the ministry of environment and forestry is going to provide Kenya with a chance to employ you g people who are jobless in the country and this will improve the living standards of the people.
