Joyce wa mamaa is the leading queen in the field of kikuyu music.Many people call her the queen Jane of today (queen Jane was the former leading lady in music in kikuyu Land and also in Kenya.He died of depression in the year 2010, but her songs are still alive to date and are doing well)
Joyce wa mamaa is a mother of one child called Mathiya after her father.During her interview with famous kikuyu radio presenter Jeff Kúría , Joyce revealed that Munyeki Sonko who is also Gukena radio presenter is the father of her child.But he also said that both are in good terms.
Also Joyce had one sister by the name Jackie Mathiya.
Wa maama become more popular after doing a collable with another mugithi legend Samidoh (ihuha). Though this was not the first time to do a collable for she had did another with John Njagi(kairitu gakwa) when she was still in Njagi's band .
Joyce had performed in UK together with Samidoh after their song Ihuha had gone popular.
