A popular beauty queen has left men under siege after demanding millions as her bride price on the ground that money is everything and without it, nothing works.
Singer Official Agness has declared that a man who wants to marry her must part with Tsh500 million as her bride price.
The Tanzanian Bongo Flavor singer believes that without money love cannot grow. She said our ancestors managed to stay in love for long without money because money had no value for them, unlike now where money is the epicentre of everything.
"Mababu zetu walidumu kwenye ndoa zao zamani kwa sababu pesa haikuwa na 'value' kwao lakini sasa hivi pesa ndiyo kila kitu, hiki ninachokizungumza siyo 'drama' kama ilivyokuwa ya uchebe, hii ni kweli, mahari yangu milioni 500," she said which translates to
(Our ancestors stayed in their marriages in the past because money did not have 'value' to them but now money is everything, what I am talking about is not 'drama', this is true, my bride price is 500 million)
