If you talk about Kenyan pioneers in the entertainment industry, you cannot complete the list without mentioning the veteran and legendary Charles Bukeko. He is the brains behind Papa Shirandula, a show named after him and he features on the show as a watchman who keeps a secretive professional life after coming to the city having lied to his family that he is the boss of a big company. He was born on July 10th 1962 in Mumias specifically Buhalarire, Busia county to his parents, Cosmas Wafula and Valeria Makokha. He was the firstborn in a family of four children. He went to Jogoo Road Primary School before proceeding to Upper Hill Secondary where he sat for his KCSE. He always had a passion for acting and like many celebrity actors, he went through Kenya National Theatre and later joined Phoenix theatre. [Photo courtesy]
