Citizen TV Staffs Bid Farewell To Francis Gachuri In Style As He Heads To A Top Government Job

It is no secret that celebrated Citizen TV journalist Francis Gachuri has exited the station.

According to reports, the seasoned journalist is infact heading for job at the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, where he will work as the Secretary, Strategic Communications.

Francis Gachuri has therefore left the Royal Media Services (RMS) after working there in different capacities for the last 17 years, and excelled.

The hunk infact joined the RMS in 2007 and worked as a political affairs reporter for all those years. Aside from that he also used to host Inooro TV's political talk show 'Kiririmbi'.

Francis Gachuri was also a member of the News Gang, that included other top journalists like Yvonne Okwara, Linus Kaikai and Jamila Mohammed.

The gang usually met on Thursdays from 10 PM, and discussed various issues of the country.

Francis Gachuri gets a befitting farewell.

Francis Gachuri infact appeared as a member of the News Gang for the last time on Thursday night, and in the same show he was given a befitting farewell.

For starters, the other members, i.e Linus Kaikai and Yvonne Okwara took him down the memory lane, to the days when he was still a young journalist.

This was via a compilation of video clips that showed how Francis Gachuri was doing his work as a journalist over the years, and they showed his growth in the media industry. The act undoubtedly touched him.

The journalist also disclosed that he was only 24-years-old when he started, but he has exited ths station when he is now 41-years-old.

To crown his farewell, Francis Gachuri was also given several gifts by the staff of Citizen TV and also some fellow journalists.

These gifts also included some Manchester United jerseys, the home kit and the away kit.

Francis Gachuri being a huge fan of the English team, the jerseys had the number 17 at the back to show his years of service at Citizen TV.

Everyone brought his gift individually, even though there was a huge cake now from all of them together that they gave Francis Gachuri.

Before he cut his cake, Francis Gachuri and Yvonne Okwara also took the viewers down the memory lane to nursery school days, of when the 'By So I Love You Baby' rhyme used to be played.

The two even did the moves as seen in the video below.

It should be noted that earlier in the day Yvonne Okwara had taken to her social media, and told her fans that Francis' Gachuri's farewell would be memorable.

The sassy journalist even hoped that she could hold it together, and not get too emotional because Francis was so close to her.

"...We are back on tonight on #NewsGang And I'm not gonna lie, tonight's show will be emotional!

I'll be saying goodbye to my deskie and one of the best mates at work. Hope I can keep it together y'all 🥺🥺..." she wrote in part.
