Ex Kenyan Based Congolese Musician Purportedly Dies in Exile

A Kenyan based Congolese "Lingala" artists departed in exile.


His colleague musicians disclosed to the Sunday Nation that Mukala Koko Kanyinda's life was claimed by a suspected heart attack.

He was one of the masterminds behind the creation of a Lingala Band christened the "Orch Les Mangelepa" that rocked the Kenyan music industry back then in 1970s.

The music family operated within the environs of the Kenyan Capital.

Mukala passed in his mid seventies. Up to the hour of his demise, he was working on a music production project together with his fellow Lingala musicians who resided in London.

At the time of his untimely death, Mukala had lived in London for more than 40 years.

He was a talented writer who compiled most of the famous and lively songs produced by the Mangelepa Band.

Kenya, Congo and London has lost a dedicated and talented person who was willing to educate the young generation through his music productions.
