Most Streamed Deceased Artists On Spotify.

The musical heroes listed below may no longer be alive but their enormous audience on the streaming platform establishes their notable impact on the music industry in the 21st Century.

1. Pop Smoke

Pop Smoke (born Bashar Barakah Jackson) was fatally shot dead on February 19, 2020, during a home invasion in Los Angeles. The New York-bred rapper's Spotify streams spiked tremendously shortly after his untimely death. According to Casino Grounds, Pop Smoke has approximately 31 million monthly listeners on Spotify making him the most streamed dead artist as of 2022.

2. Juice Wrld

Jarad Anthony Higgins, known professionally as Juice Wrld, was an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. The Chicago-native is often credited with playing a major role in developing and popularizing emo-rap as well as SoundCloud rap. He died on December 8, 2019, at the age of 21 after accidentally overdosing on powerful painkillers during a police check on his private jet. On Spotify, he closely follows Pop Smoke with roughly 29 million monthly listeners.

3. Avicii

Tim Bergling, better known by his stage name Avicii, was a Swedish DJ, remixer, record producer, musician, and songwriter. His 2013 hit single Wake Me Up has 2.1 billion views on YouTube thus far making it the most viewed song by a deceased artist. In 2016 the singer's mental health issues overwhelmed him forcing him to retire from touring. He ended up committing suicide on April 20, 2018, by cutting his arm with a blade while on a vacation in Oman. His monthly Spotify listeners are approximately 28 million.

4. Michael Jackson

Jackson is not only the most awarded musician but also the best-selling artist of all time with estimated sales of more than 400 million records. His major contributions to music, dance, and fashion, along with his controversial persona enabled him to capture a vast audience. The King of Pop died almost a decade ago after receiving an overdose of the surgical anesthetic propofol from his medical specialist. Twelve years later he still manages to obtain 26.7 million monthly listeners on Spotify.

5. XXXTentacion

Just like Pop Smoke, XXXTentacion born Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy was also shot and killed on 18, June 2018 during a robbery in his hometown Florida. Though a controversial figure due to his widely publicized legal troubles, The 'SAD' rapper gained a substantial following among his young peers during his short-lived career with his depression and alienation-themed music. He is currently the most subscribed deceased artist on YouTube with roughly 33.6 million subscribers. He has an average of 26 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
