Photo of Buru Phase 1 in 1974 Excites Kenyans (Photos)

A photo of Buru Buru phase 1 just when it was completed has emerged online, citing mixed reactions from Kenyans.

According to a photo shared In the 'Hapo Zama za kale' Facebook group, the Buru Buru you see today is a pale shadow of what it was in the 70s and 80s.

The houses were all white and had some short picket fences in the front yards and bougainvillea fences in the back yards, with each yard surrounded by grass.

Buru had been deemed an estate for the wealthy back then as it was always clean and organized unlike now when it is considered one of the biggest slums in Nairobi.

This photo gathered a lot of reactions from Kenyans, with some telling of how they used to dream of living there.

Below are some of the reactions from netizens.
