The renowned American journalist has worked as a television commentator for FIFA World Cup, ESPN, Winter X and Winter Olympics.He is also a musician who performs with the Alekesam band.
2. He owns a surf lifestyle brand
In 2018 he joined a South African surf Mami Wata only to start his own brand Alekesam after a short while.
"The idea of building a bridge between the West and the African continent has always been on my mind," he told the outlet. "It’s my hope that this brand and narrative can help create curiosity and expand what the idea of surf culture looks like globally."
3. They met on a plane in 2016
Despite the love birds having been so quiet about their relationship, the Internet followers have found that the two first link in 2016. Masekela was sat immediately behind Lupita Nyong'o. "Hypothetically speaking of course...let's say you're seated behind Lupita Nyong'o on an airplane, what would be your opening line," he wrote at the time, adding a couple of minutes later, "Anyone comes up with a good opener for me with Lupita Nyong'o, send em.
